A Traditional Osteopathic Approach — With a Collaborative Network
I practice traditional osteopathy grounded in thorough assessment, hands-on manual therapy and evidence-informed clinical reasoning. My focus is on identifying the underlying mechanical and functional contributors to pain, rather than simply treating symptoms.
Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual. I combine osteopathic manual therapy with current evidence around pain science, rehabilitation principles and load management to support long-term outcomes — not just short-term relief.
Osteopathy Central Otago is grounded in traditional osteopathic principles, with a strong emphasis on hands‑on manual therapy, clinical reasoning and evidence‑informed pain management.
My approach focuses on understanding the mechanical and functional contributors to pain, restoring movement, and supporting recovery through personalised treatment plans tailored to each patient.
Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with personal trainers and other allied health professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive care beyond the scope of osteopathic treatment alone. This may include structured strength programming, rehabilitation support or specialist referral when indicated.
Having a background in endurance sport myself, I understand the demands placed on the body and the importance of both effective manual therapy and progressive strength development. When a condition requires input outside osteopathic scope, I believe in coordinated, patient‑centred care to achieve the best long‑term outcomes.
Clinical Experience Informed by Endurance Sport
With a long-standing background in endurance sport, I understand first-hand the physical and mental demands of training, competition, recovery and performance longevity.
I have competed in triathlon at age-group level, representing New Zealand in Standard Distance and AquaBike at:
• Cozumel, Mexico (2016)
• Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2017)
I completed Ironman Western Australia (Full Distance) in 2019, and the Kathmandu Coast to Coast — “The Longest Day” in 2021.
Outside of competition, I am an avid runner and regularly incorporate weight training and CrossFit-style conditioning into my own training.
This lived experience informs my clinical approach — particularly around load management, resilience, recovery strategies and the balance between performance and injury prevention. Whether working with competitive athletes or individuals managing everyday pain, my focus remains on sustainable, evidence-informed outcomes.
